Director of Registry, Governance and Students
Dr Chris Turner
Dr Chris Turner became Director of Registry, Governance and Students in July 2008. The Directorate provides a range of registry and other support services to the academic schools and to the student community in general. It also has an important role in advising on and implementing academic policy and quality assurance processes. Dr Turner is responsible for ensuring that the governance processes, including the committee system and compliance with legislative and other regulatory requirements, are effective. He holds the title University Secretary in relation to his role as the secretary to the Council. Some of the divisions within the Directorate also have an external dimension, including the NHS Liaison Unit, Welsh Language Services and the Careers Service. He is currently the University's nominee on the Cwm Taf NHS Trust.
Dr Turner has a degree and a doctorate in History from Aberystwyth and during his career has worked at four Welsh universities - Bangor, Aberystwyth, UWCM, where he was College Secretary, and then in 2004 he joined Cardiff University as Director of Corporate Services.
