Partnerships and collaboration are central to our Mission and to our success.
Such associations begin within the University itself where, increasingly, interdisciplinary teams are formed from across our academic schools to collaborate in teaching, research and other projects. Such teams are able to apply fresh and wider perspectives to issues, challenges and opportunities and such collaborative approaches often lead to progress based on highly innovative thinking. In the same spirit, we have mutually beneficial links with leading universities worldwide, many facilitating collaborative research and teaching and associated staff and student exchanges.
Our partnerships within the region are numerous and highly valued. Our close working relationship with the NHS Wales is particularly notable, and other close partnerships include those with the Welsh Assembly Government and the City and County of Cardiff, all of which contribute to research led policy making. Such links, with governments, their agencies and related bodies extend worldwide and include work with the United Nations, the World Health Organisation and NATO.
Similarly, our partnerships with business and commerce are both local and global. Our Innovation Network and Manufacturing Engineering Centre are particularly notable in supporting small and medium size enterprises. Internationally we work with multinational corporations such as Sony and IBM.
