Welcome to the the University's Social and Community Action Network (SCAN)

The network has been set up by a group of university staff to increase social interaction within the University, to provide a central focus for charity action and to build links with our local community. All staff are warmly invited to take part in events and contribute to the Network.

The SCAN network (named contacts in Schools and Divisions across the University) can also be used to help publicise other social or fundraising activities that are taking place across the University, so please email if you would like to make use of the SCAN network for this purpose.  We are always looking for new faces to support the SCAN committee in arranging events and to suggest new ideas.

Since SCAN’s creation in 2003 over £15000 has been donated to Tenovus and over £5000 to local community causes from monies raised through SCAN events, including regular quiz nights, the summer ball, a bookstall, hamper raffles, a staff meet & mingle and a football tournament. Additionally many academic schools and administrative divisions have organised their own fundraising activities donating the monies raised to SCAN.

Thank you for your continued support.
